Customer Review Summary
The Schecter E-1 Custom Special Edition VSB is a stunning guitar that immediately captivates with its beautiful maple top, which shifts colour with the light, creating a striking visual effect.
The build quality is impressive, with high-standard finishes and no visible defects. Although the action may be a bit high for some, this can be easily adjusted to suit individual preferences. Upon testing the sound, it becomes clear that this guitar offers excellent tonal quality, especially characteristic of mahogany guitars, providing a warm and well-defined sound.
The pickups perform admirably, allowing for a range of sounds that suit various styles, including blues and rock. The push-pull feature enhances the tonal versatility, making it ideal for intricate arpeggios and heavier distortions, particularly for hard rock and metal genres. The clarity of individual notes and chords is commendable, with a pleasing bite that doesn’t compromise on depth, although it may lack fullness for clean settings.
The neck is comfortable to play, especially after removing the glossy finish, and the larger frets make it easier to navigate. The guitar is somewhat heavy, which may pose challenges for standing play, but the overall design is ergonomic with thoughtful cutouts for comfort.
Despite its many strengths, it is disappointing that a gig bag or case is not included, which seems like an oversight given the price point. Nevertheless, this guitar is highly recommended for those seeking a well-crafted instrument that excels in sound and playability, making it a worthwhile addition to any guitarist’s collection.
