Review of the Schecter C-1 FR S Apocalypse Red Reign:
The Schecter C-1 FR S Apocalypse Red Reign is a visually stunning guitar with an exceptional sound quality that has impressed me greatly. The humbucker pickups deliver a powerful and rich tone, particularly suited for heavy genres. The Sustainiac pickup adds a unique twist, providing endless sustain and allowing for creative experimentation, although it can change the tone noticeably when toggled.
In terms of playability, the guitar feels comfortable, with a neck that is easy to navigate. Harmonics are effortless to achieve, making it an enjoyable instrument to play. However, there are some ergonomic concerns; the sharp edges can cause discomfort during prolonged standing play, though this issue dissipates when sitting.
While the overall sound quality is commendable, I did notice some inconsistencies in the finish. The binding was irregular, and there were minor scratches that detracted from its appearance. For a guitar at this price point, I expected a more polished finish. The colour is vibrant and captivating, but the craftsmanship could use improvement to match the aesthetic of the instrument.
Despite these drawbacks, if you’re willing to overlook minor flaws in workmanship, the Schecter C-1 FR S Apocalypse Red Reign offers a high-quality playing experience with great sound versatility, especially for metal and heavier music styles. Just be cautious with the Sustainiac feature, as it may not be as reliable in every position.
