Customer Review Summary

Harley Benton MultiScale-8 QBB Review

I recently tried the Harley Benton MultiScale-8 QBB, and I must say, it’s quite an impressive entry-level eight-string guitar. The multiscale design, with a range from 25.5″ to 27″, allows for tight and clear low-string tones while keeping the higher strings comfortable to play.

Pros:

The build quality is surprisingly good for the price, with a nice finish and an appealing aesthetic. The neck is smooth and feels great in the hand, making it easy to navigate. Once properly set up, which is essential, the guitar plays wonderfully. The locking tuners, while not the smoothest, do their job adequately, although some users have experienced tuning stability issues.

The overall sound is decent, especially for modern metal and djent styles. The pickups, though they could be better, perform reasonably well for high-gain sounds, while clean tones are acceptable. Many have noted that with a few upgrades, particularly to the pickups, this guitar could reach even higher levels of performance.

Cons:

However, there are a few drawbacks. Some guitars come with minor cosmetic flaws and rough edges on the frets, which can be easily polished. The stock strings and nut slots have also received criticism for not accommodating heavier gauges well, leading to tuning issues. Additionally, the guitar tends to feel a bit unbalanced due to the heavier neck compared to the lightweight body.

In conclusion, the Harley Benton MultiScale-8 QBB is an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore eight-string guitars without breaking the bank. While it has its quirks and may require some initial setup and adjustments, the overall value for money is outstanding, making it a worthwhile investment for both beginners and seasoned players looking to experiment with extended range instruments.
