Customer Review Summary
Danelectro 59M NOS+ DC SFG is a delightful guitar that truly stands out with its unique sound and aesthetic. The full, melodic tones it produces are neither purely acoustic nor electric, but rather a distinctive blend that defines the Danelectro character. With its recent upgrades, including the new “D” logo and improved pickups, this model enhances the playing experience significantly.
The craftsmanship is impeccable, with the guitar being perfectly set up in terms of action and intonation. It comes equipped with D’Addario EXL 110 strings, and the inclusion of a “birth certificate,” an Allen key, and a poster adds a nice touch for guitar enthusiasts.
Musically, this guitar excels in various genres. It produces a rich, bluesy sound with the bridge pickup while offering overtone-rich tones from the neck pickup. Using both pickups together yields a particularly powerful sound, perfect for ambient chamber jazz, surf rock, blues, and rockabilly. The tone is glassy and jangly, making it a joy to play clean or with effects like chorus or vibrato.
However, the combined volume and tone controls may take some getting used to, as they can feel a bit unwieldy. Despite this minor drawback, the overall value for money is outstanding, making it a fun and visually appealing instrument. It’s lightweight and comfortable, especially for players with smaller hands, further enhancing the playing experience.
In conclusion, the Danelectro 59M NOS+ DC SFG offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of guitar history, delivering both exceptional sound and a distinctive look. It’s a superb choice for any musician looking to explore different tones and styles.
