Review of the Squier CV 60s Strat in Lake Placid Blue
I recently got my hands on the Squier Classic Vibe 60s Stratocaster in Lake Placid Blue, and I must say, it’s a remarkable guitar for the price. The finish is absolutely stunning, with a vibrant blue that looks even better in person than in photos. The craftsmanship is impressive; everything from the neck to the body feels solid and well-made, without any visible flaws.
The playability is fantastic. The slim C-shaped neck is smooth and comfortable, allowing for effortless playing across the fretboard. The frets are well-finished with no sharp edges, which enhances the overall playing experience. It’s light in weight, making it easy to handle during long practice sessions.
When it comes to sound, this guitar delivers the classic Stratocaster tone beautifully. The Alnico pickups produce a bright, clear sound with a lovely warmth, particularly in the clean settings. The tone and volume pots feel robust and responsive, allowing for fine-tuning of your sound easily. The guitar has a good sustain, and it performs admirably even when played dry.
However, there are a few minor drawbacks to mention. The tremolo system is quite stiff, which may deter those who enjoy using it frequently. Additionally, the stock strings could be upgraded for better performance. Some users have reported that the neck finish is a bit glossy, which might not appeal to everyone, but this can be easily adjusted with some fine sanding.
Overall, the Squier CV 60s Strat is an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned players looking for a budget-friendly option. It offers great value with its quality build, sound, and playability. If you can live with the Squier logo on the headstock, this guitar is definitely worth considering. It has quickly become a go-to for many players who appreciate its blend of vintage aesthetics and modern playability.
