Harley Benton Agufish STD Signature BK Review
Having been on the lookout for a Harley Benton guitar for some time, I finally settled on the Agufish STD Signature BK, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations. Right out of the box, the setup was impressive, with a comfortable action, a straight neck, and good intonation.
The aesthetics of this guitar are stunning, and the quality of the fretboard is simply gorgeous. While the finish is mostly flawless, I did notice a few dust particles under the lacquer and some minor blemishes, which are not detrimental to its playability. The frets could use a polish as they feel a bit scratchy, but overall, the playability is excellent. The neck is wonderfully shaped, making it easy to access the higher frets.
Sound-wise, it leans towards a modern metal aesthetic, offering a punchy bridge pickup and a sweet neck pickup. However, it does sound somewhat flat at times, particularly with a lack of sustain, which might be something to consider for those not exclusively playing metal. The pickups are versatile, with the ability to split them for different tones, and they perform well even under distortion without unwanted noise.
Despite its few drawbacks, the Agufish delivers an outstanding playing experience with remarkable build quality for the price point. It rivals many higher-end brands and has quickly become one of my favourite guitars. If you’re looking for an affordable instrument that looks and plays beautifully, I wholeheartedly recommend the Harley Benton Agufish STD Signature BK.
