Song repertoire is just as important to good ole Tommy boy as the guitar is and he has studied song writing all his life. In fact his belief in a repertoire is so strong that he feels, you know what let me quote him on this. “I think it helps to have knowledge of songs and also a repertoire of songs that you can learn from and help your style” “Even on my worst night, or I’m tired today or I’m not inspired. I can still do alright because I have my songs and it will still be a show that people will like. I can stand on my songs and my arrangements”.

Because all of us are the same, we all start out trying to be like somebody, or we like what they do and it’s usually not the artist that inspires us. Usually it’s the music that’s inspiring.”

The story goes is that he was watching the TV and as soon as he heard the opening chord of that song he rushed to turn the TV off and figured the chord out on his own guitar.
