Customer Review Summary
Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus HSS SFG is a remarkable guitar, particularly impressive given its price point. With a stunning Seafoam Green finish and absolutely no flaws in the craftsmanship, it stands out visually as well as functionally. The neck is exceptionally comfortable, featuring rounded fingerboard edges and smooth ball end frets, making it a joy to play.
The bridge design is solid, ensuring excellent tuning stability, although it might feel a bit bulky for some players. Overall, the playability is top-notch, and the guitar is well-suited for a variety of genres, particularly pop, rock, and soul, thanks to the balanced tonal characteristics of the Tesla pickups. The sound quality is impressive, with a clear output that works well across different styles.
However, there are a few minor issues to note. The volume knob is positioned unusually, and the tuners can be a bit high, necessitating the use of string trees. Some users have experienced output issues with the pickup in the 5th position, and while the fretwork is generally excellent, there have been reports of some buzzing that might require a bit of polishing. Additionally, the electronics could use a slight upgrade, as they tend to be a bit noisy during adjustments.
Nevertheless, this guitar truly offers exceptional value for money and competes well with more expensive models. It’s a fantastic option for both beginners and experienced players looking for an affordable, high-quality instrument that performs well straight out of the box. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in the market for a versatile electric guitar.
