Ibanez GRG131DX-BKF Electric Guitar Review
Having had my reservations about Ibanez guitars in the past, I decided to give the GRG131DX-BKF a chance out of curiosity. I must say, this guitar has dramatically changed my perception. The build quality for a price point of around £200 is surprisingly impressive. The red binding adds a nice touch, and apart from a minor flaw, everything else is well-finished with no fret buzz.
The sound quality is what truly amazed me. It produces a powerful, rounded tone that excels particularly in high-gain settings, outperforming many guitars in the £500 range. While it sounds decent on clean settings, it’s clear that this guitar is designed for heavier music styles.
One minor drawback is the tuning machines; they perform adequately but tend to lose their tuning stability after a couple of days. A simple replacement could remedy this issue and elevate the guitar’s overall performance.
Ergonomically, the neck is fast and comfortable, making it a joy to play. With five pickup positions, it offers versatility for various styles, from metal to cleaner tones. The guitar arrived fully tuned and ready to play, which was a pleasant surprise.
Visually, the guitar is striking with its sleek black and red design, making it an attractive choice for any player. The lightweight nature of the instrument enhances playability, even for beginners. Although some attention to detail regarding the fret finishing could be improved, overall, this guitar is an excellent entry-level instrument.
In conclusion, the Ibanez GRG131DX-BKF is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a budget-friendly, high-quality guitar. It has a warm and precise sound, comfortable playability, and an eye-catching design. Highly recommended for beginners and seasoned players alike!
